Yu-Chia, Hsu is a second-year Violin Fellow at the New World Symphony. He has performed with numerous renowned orchestras including the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony, Taipei Symphony, South Dakota Symphony and Quad City Symphony. He also served as guest concertmaster of Golden Valley Orchestra, Mississippi Valley Orchestra and Mankato Symphony.
As a soloist, Yu-Chia won the first prize of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, Japan Classical Music Competition, Schubert Club Competition and Mary West Solo Competition. He was also a prize winner at the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition, Music Teacher National Association Competition, International Grieg Society of Minnesota String Competition, Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition and Schlern International Music Festival. In 2022 he appeared as a soloist with Bloomington Symphony and University of Minnesota Symphony, performing Ravel’s Tzigane.
Yu-Chia has participated in music festivals in the U.S. and abroad including the Shanghai International Violin Sonata Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, University of Music Franz Liszt 57th Weimar Master Class, Pyeong Chang International Music Festival, Atlantic Music Festival and Taipei Music Academy Festival. He had the privilege to study and work with renowned artists such as Cho-Liang Lin, David Chan, Gerardo Ribeiro, Oleh Krysa, David Takeno, Huang Bin, Pierre Amoyal, Eduard Grach, Daniel Phillips, Catherine Cho, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Kurt Sassmannshaus and Clara Jumi Kang, among others.
Yu-Chia completed his doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Minnesota, where he received full scholarship and served as teaching assistant of professor Sally O’Reilly. He completed his master’s degree at the New England Conservatory with professor Ayano Ninomiya, and his bachelor’s degree at the National University of Singapore - Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with professor Zuo Jun.
